Re:new to board
Lake Wazee always freezes over late. Definitely the last lake to freeze in the area.

Re:new to board
There is a post on MNSCUBA.Com that says it was nearly all frozen over on the 25th. We were planning to dive it on the 31st, and will call the ranger staition or Wazee Sports to find out the status.

Re:new to board
I'm new to this board as well; my first post after lurking about for a short time. As a frequent diver at Lake Wazee and a resident of Black River Falls, I've been checking the ice situation quite a bit lately. The lake iced over when we had the cold weather January 3-5. I walked out on it after talking with some ice fisherman who were sitting in their truck watching their tip-ups. Said they drilled through 2-3 inches of ice to set their tip-ups. Needless to say, I didn't stand out on the ice very long. By now, I'm sure, it's improved a little more. Wazee Sports is running an ice dive weekend, Feb. 7-8. I believe Keith is teaching the ice dive course (check with him at Wazee Sports for sure), plus its an annual event for training with the Jackson County Dive Unit (I'm the training officer), and anybody else that's wants to ice dive with all the proper equipment. Refreshments and hot cider provided for a small fee out on the ice.

Its a good time if the weather is decent.

Andy

Re:new to board
Hello and welcome. Thanks for the ice condition report and the invitation. I'll be doing my ice diver cert the weekend before at Devil's Lake and if I enjoy that I may join you.

Welcome Andy!! I might try to get out on that Wazee ice dive. I will be off work and no plans right now. I'm thinkin that some bubble blowing might be in order.

Re:new to board
I always enjoy Keiths ice dive get togethers. Is he going to have this on Saturday or Sunday or both days?

Has not posted it on his web site at last check.

Good ice diving and good chili.

Re:new to board
Definitely a good time out there...the best part is someone else cuts the hole.
