On Saturday, I spent a nice morning diving in Lake Wazee. There were a fair number of people at the lake, enjoying a great fall day in Wisconsin.

How can you not be tempted by conditions like this.

The water conditions were good, especially in the shallow areas and below 100 feet. Made for the usual profile of deep and then shallow.

Was using only a wet suit, so this limited my deep time as the temperature was 42 deg F. Did take a quick pass of the ball and then worked my way up.

Above the thermocline the temperature was 62 deg F, which made diving much easier. The fish seem to be schooling around the 20 foot mark. Not much in the fish cribs. A lot of fish in the trees. Here is one of the better places to see the fish, and the trees make it even more interesting.

Some bluegills in the trees.

Here are some curious bluegills and a bass checking me out in the trees.

The wall is always a big part of diving in this lake. Here a bass joins me along the wall. I like the contrast of the iron ore and overburden in this lake. The geology is as interesting as the fish.

There was a good size sucker in a cave formed by some boulders. He was not interested in taking off right away so I got to get some good pictures.

Here he is peaking out from his hiding hole.

Took a look at the business end of this sucker. I will let you make your own comments.

Here is a weed pushing out from between the rocks. This is at 20 feet down. Will more floating weeds become the new trees in this lake as the old trees rot away? I hope that there is still beauty in the sites, fish to chase and clear water to dive.

Jump in boys, the water is fine.

Doug

Doug, some really good pictures here. :-*
If I can't dive it's great to see what's down there. ;D

Hope to get in at least two more dives before my buddy gives up and goes hunting.

Locally, up here the colors on the trees are beautiful.
