Information on Diving a Dream Fundraiser!
Details are being finalized! Diving a Dream's Private Event will be
held at Underwater Adventures Aquarium, in the Mall of America, on
Saturday, February 18, 2006 from 2:00pm – 6:00pm. There will be
open aquarium tours available during those hours too. There are
still many things to get organized but we also plan to have
hor'duevers and refreshments. The ticket sales information will be
posted soon on

So far, I have asked John Chatterton to be a speaker, he said he
would really like to do that. Chris Conangla with UPN news is going
to emcee the event. I am also hoping to get Neal Watson to come.

My friend Susan Long from DUI has said she'd like to make it as well.
Scuba Radio is offering to do some sort of phone interview at the
time.

We are looking for sponsors to donate items to a silent auction and
raffle. Anyone interested please feel free to contact me! Any dive
stores who want to help in any way, whatever you're willing to give
please contact me!

Or if you know of any big names in the dive community that might
like to be a speaker or help out as well please let me know. I will
be updating the info, once I get more things worked out.

The specific address is as follows....
Underwater Adventures® Aquarium
Mall of America
120 East Broadway
Bloomington, MN 55425

Sounds like quite the event.  You should see if you can get the mall to let you dive the aquarium there - I know they do offer tour packages for diving it!  Could be an interesting experience.

Re: Information on Diving a Dream Fundraiser!
Thanks Omicron, no I will not be diving in the aquarium because of their rules. If you don't have a C card they wouldn't let you dive. I have three dive instructors that will be with me and they still will not let me dive. Even though I know everything about diving and I did take my SDI course and passed it.

O well I well be diving the real thing soon enough.

Take care, Matt.

Whoa...

...wait a minute here. Because you don't have a c-card, their rules stipulate you (given your pool sessions, and instructors being present) cannot dive there? Um... let me be the first to sign the petition to get you to dive there.  Do you have any contact info for the powers that be? I wouldn't mind giving them a call to see if some of us can't get you a little more bottom time before the big plunge in the open water.

What do the rest of you say? Let's get Matt a little more bottom time!

Hi schultz

Yeah thats what they are saying right now.  No C-card, no dive.  Most places would let me dive with 3 instructors as long as I had a waiver signed.  Its not 100% their fault, it all falls back on the insurance company.  Like usual, those lawyers take the fun out of it lol.  If I don't get to dive at my fundraiser, we'll still have a great time.  Who knows, I might get to dive there some other time. Who knows I might get to do it with my Dive Heart friends being involved now. I'd give you the contact info.... only lol I don't want to make more waves!  This spring I am going to Bonaire and Fla then Wazee Lake in  June.  I'll have opportunities to have more fun open water dives anyway.

Take care,
Matt

Sound like you have quite the schedule planned - a shame they won't let you dive there though.

Hi Omicron
I agree it should be a fun event!  It's a drag I don't get to dive there but not a whole lot more I can do about it.  There will be other opportunities!  Thanks for writing, take care.
Matt

Tickets can be purchase via Pay Pal at this site below.
The cost is $25 if you buy them now and $30 at the door.

I am trying to get as many online purchases for ticket(s) sold by January 10th so we have a good head count for catering, seating,
etc....

Hope to see you there!
Matt
