Freshwater Jellies!
Did two dives in Redgranite today with Doug.  Conditions were pretty decent for the most part.  Viz in the shallows (50 feet and above) was actually phenomenal.  Once you hit 60 and below it got pretty bad - 80 feet was typical Redgranite blackness.

The highlight of the dives though were the jellyfish.  We saw one on the first dive, and then about a dozen on the second dive.  They were in about 20 feet of water.  Very cool little guys, just swimmin around the quarry.  Neat stuff.  Hopefully more of them will be showing up soon.

For more info on the jellies, check out this site:

Re: Freshwater Jellies!
I could easily see the surface from 20-25 feet deep.

Re: Freshwater Jellies!
This has been a great year for jellyfish. Using a light behind or underneath them makes them much clearer. They almost glow. Now to try to get them on film.

We did 2 dives in Red Granite today. Visibility is still unusually good. One of the guys thought he saw a jellyfish (I think it was a snot ball that got out of his mask ;D), while the rest of us only saw a few fish. Underwater bowling was fun with the addition of a couple new balls.......

Re: Freshwater Jellies!
At least 20-25 ft of visibility down to about 50 ft. Cool foggy effect from the thermocline around 28 ft. Water temp in the 60's above 30 ft. Low 40's below 50 ft.

Re: Freshwater Jellies!
Visibility at Red Granite is good.  Fresh water Jellyfish are out and about.  Took the camera and tried to get some pictures.  Here are some attempts, larger than life size.

Hope you enjoy them.
