Lake Emily
We did some different diving in Lake Emily a couple of weekends ago.  We were there to see if divers can successful pull Milfoil out in sparsely infected areas and can that milfoil be recovered.  This is to supplement the poisoning of the major infestations of milfoil.  The Lake Emily Lake Society and the Central Wisconsin Scuba Club worked on this project.  This was an interesting event.  Clearity in Lake Emily was exceptional.  I have never seen the lake so clear.  This made for a nice dive.

Also great picture taking conditions.

Here is some of the divers picking milfoil.  It did not take much to get the silt up as can be seen in the other picture.

Re: Lake Emily
Here is the weed that we are looking for.  I wonder what this pike thought about our visit?

Re: Lake Emily
We did collect a pile of weeds and had a good time.  They fed us lunch too.

Re: Lake Emily
Central Wisconsin?  Must be in Portage County, near Amherst Junction, ESE of Stevens Point.  105 acres (pretty small), mean depth 16', max depth 36'.

But that's only a guess.

Re: Lake Emily
Some details on Lake Emily.

Portage County, near Amherst.

Visibility was over 30 feet.  This is much better than the typical 5 feet.

Marl bottom.

Not worth diving below 25 feet.

Re: Lake Emily
I stopped by to take a look in August.  The East side boat launch looks like the best place to go in.  To get to the County park beach from the parking lot involves a long haul down a big hill.  There are some fish cribs on both ends of the lake.

I'm going to try and catch this lake this summer.

Re: Lake Emily
This was the first place I ever went under - a place of happy memories for me.  A relative of mine was involved in this thing last year, he had a good time.  I think we will hit this lake this summer again.
