300 meters
Just for discussion:

I just watched a show on National Geographic that says divers can't go below 300 meters (984 feet) because the pressure of 500 pounds per square inch is too much on the human body. It was mostly a discussion on deep technology.
I know that divers have gone over 1000 feet on open circuit and over 900 feet on CCR. Understanding and taking into consideration the dangers of CO2 build up, narcosis, trimix gas mixes, time, and exposure, are these super deep dives flukes or do you think the actual pressure on the body has no effect.

Re: 300 meters
I read an article on 2000' saturation dives a few years ago that indicated it was believed permanent tissue damage would occur if this was exceeded.  Where todays belief and technology are, I don't know- Google it =)
I think ROV or AOV are better suited for those depths as they can manage the time to do something productive.  Risk vs reward.

Rick-  There was lengthy discussion on this topic at the DAN Tech Diving Conference this past January. DAN has the conference hooked on online for download by members or I believe that a DVD can also be purchased.
