The Wisconsin 4/19/08
Several of us from the board dove the the Wisconsin today with Shipwreck Adventures. Waves were 1-2ft with a little drizzle at times. Visibility was excellent (vertical 50+, horizontal 100+). You could easily see the boat on the surface from the deck on the wreck. We did a 35 minute bottom time with a little exploration around the cars and the lower cargo hold. Water temps were around 35. I was pretty warm throughout the dive, but got a little cold on our 20 ft stop. We were able to warm up with a great sandwich after diving at "Macs Deli" in Kenosha. The open water season is OPEN Wink.

Hey Matt

Sounds like you had a Great time on the Wisconsin, its a nice wreck ! Did it hold up through the winter ?? Last fall when we are on her it looked like the bow was giving way..wreck is looking a little fragile.

We were on the Car Ferry this AM, Vis was 60-70 ffw...Had a full boat but the weather was rough...

I haven't  been on the Wisconsin bunches of times, but it was still intact.  It seems to me that the opening to the deck from within the hole, near the bow, on the the starboard side is larger than it was the first time I was on the wreck.

I guess we lucked out yesterday with the weather.  Matt just called me and said it was rough off Kenosha too.  I had an excellent time yesterday, and didn't have to wake up at 4:30am to get seasick this morning ;D

Bill, the wreck seems a lot like the Milwaukee to me. Every time I see it it looks like there's a little more caving in. As Chris said, today was nice and sunny, but a few of the guys were a little green on the way in (myself included :-[). The wave forecast changed drastically over night, from 1 ft or less to 2-4 ft waves. Felt more like 4 ft + to me  Sad. Hope next weekend is as nice as yesterday was. The water is COLD, but visibility is great.

Saturday's SS Wisconsin dive was a trifecta of great wreck, great vis and great folks to dive with. Toss in calm seas and it feels like I won the derby.
