Re: Monona Outlet Dive
I am going to go check it today after work. I will post  tomorrow.
it is just down from the Monona Terrace about a half mile,
835 Spaight St. is the adress for BB Clarke beach which is where you would park and then surface swim to the outlet.

Re: Monona Outlet Dive
Went by the outlet last night. Viz was awesome. I could see a bunch of very large fish swimming around in front of it. Should be a good dive on Sunday.

Re: Monona Outlet Dive
I never dived there.  Is the dive right from shore?  Long surface swim?
Can anyone offer any other specifics on the dive?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: Monona Outlet Dive
Hey Mike, Parking is on street and not far away from entry.
Surface swim is very short, Very easy dive. Sometimes current can be strong but not in the winter months. Overhead environment is possible if you like that sort of thing. The Madison Gas & Electric (MG&E) warm water outlet is an outlet on lake Monona with warm current exiting all winter long. The warm water results in a lack of ice for about a 300 yard radius. Fun dive. water temp in the middle of winter is usually in the upper 50's as long as it is running full. A lot of fish tend to gather there due to the warm water. Sturgeon have even been spotted here. You can actually go up into the outlet tunnel a little ways and come out on the other side. It is shaped like an upside down Y with the two outlets on the lake side. You cant go to far because there is a grate. Sometimes current can be strong or weak.

Re: Monona Outlet Dive
Terrible set of circumstances!!
1. Outlet was not on. 43 deg.
2. Barge parked right in front of outlet.
3. 3 out of 6 divers had freeflow.
4. windy
We will try again Jan. 1st at 10:00 Am
