Aluminum 80 in Green Lake

A few years ago we lost a brand new (rental) Aluminum 80 tank off a friends pontoon boat due to rough seas. We were just south of Sugar Loaf in 119 feet of water.

You gotta watch out on those pontoon boats.  I wonder what that tank looks like now?  I'll bet the zebra mussels are liking it...

If it was full, I'd love to be there the day it cuts loose due to corrosion.  Zebra mussel attachment threads are corrosive to some extent.  Hope it would be a calm day and goes explosively.  Prime sea monster story with all the smokey bubbles comming to the surface. ;D

I think the start was the thread about using a pontoon as a diveboat and Chris posted the story about friends who lost some gear from a pontoon boat.......click yet Jason?? ;D

If it was empty, it would float.  If it was full it would be a few pounds negative.  Last year I was on a dive boat and we dove some bogus GPS coords.  One of the divers found a AL 80 that must have been down at least twentys years if you date it by the back pack that was on it.  It still held pressure.  The diver cleaned it up and sent it in for a hydo.  It passed.  The tank is back in use now.  So if anyone chances across this tank, its probably still a good one as long as it had a dry fill.
