Here is a simple demonstration of the power of pressure underwater. At the surface, the bottle is full of air.

At 27 feet, this bottle really gets squeezed.

right... that's a good example of why equalizing while free diving can get to be a bit tricky. Your lungs start to look like that bottle....

I always had fun taking bottles underwater with me - what's kinda freaky is if they implode all off a sudden on you...they sound like a bomb going off.

It reminds of the Rodales article of "100 fun things to do underwater". One of them was to sneak a tennis ball into your partners BC because it won't slowly shrink, it will all of a sudden implode with a good boom at about 100 feet...
