Rouse Simmons 18 June 2006 - Chris H - 06-19-2006

Two dives on the Rouse Simmons on Sunday morning.  Rain and fog greeted us at the dock and made for a slow boat ride to the wreck.  The lake wasn't flat by any means, but the frequency of the rollers made it not so bad.    The upper 30-50 ft was very green with visibility less than desireable.    This made the wreck very dark, and for a while it seemed we were on a night dive.  With the lights off, everything had that eerie dark green shadow to it.  I'll leave my light on thanks.  Visibility on the wreck was easily 40+ feet.    On the second dive there was more ambient light, but the conditions in the water column remained the same.    The water was 42ish at depth and I think I saw 53 and 57 at 20ft for the final hang.  The warm water at deco was nice, but it is hard to beat the visibility usually associated with cold water.

Seems like the vis gods are frowning on us as last year at this time it rocked!
Too much rain, winds, zebras sleeping on the job! is this the year of lower than normal vis?
