All self deprecating humor aside, that black back plate is the shizzle. What type of coating is that on the alum backplate? Doesn't look like the SS backplate comes with it. I also noticed that the inflator is not the SS precision inflator.

Nope on the SS - discontinued while the are getting the nickle plated one into production. Some salet water guy are not happy the if not rinsed SS will discolor.
No doubt it is spendy, but I believe it is still a few hundred dollars less than many of the "tech" bcds on the market. At least with this system you have some versatility and it can actually be used for tech diving.
It is not much more $$$ than a similar Dive Rite system either. I think Halcyon tops Dive Rite in quality anyway so you get what you pay for with the extra money.
I think it looks cool, but I am pretty set on gear. I do have one on preorder for a guy. So I am sure I'll be jealous when it comes in.
