The vis is good and the boat launch is open. there were only a couple of fishing boats out there today.

I am still hoping that Wazee might open up by next weekend so we can play around with some depth. I have a few freedivers who are planning for that, butf it falls through, then Rock Lake might be an idea for next weekend.

I'd be up for trying it...if you don't mind having a bubble blower around ;D
Where is Rock Lake?

I'm hoping for Wazee too.

I'm still up for it. Anytime Smile

Just don't schedule it during one of my warm water trips - mid January and early March.
Same here. Let us know where the chain saw will be and in we go.

I grew up on Rock Lake and my parents still own a house on the lake. If my schedule permits next summer, we may be able to use their pontoon boat, pier, etc. and use their house and property as a staging area. Closest dive shops are 30-45 minutes away in Madison. I could bring my compressor though.

Best time for water clarity is when the ice has just gone off. I have only seen one area that they claim is a pyramid. Just looked like a pile of rocks. Have seen pictures in books that look like man made objects, but I don't have coordinates.

Let me know if I can be of help. My schedule is pretty tight but I'll do what I can. Have always wanted to do some serious pyramid hunting there.

Paul, please keep us up to date on what you find.

This is been a question in my mind for a few years.
Is it true or not.

How was the visibility?
Saw this link today on Scubaboard about the pyramids.

Hi...  a few of us are looking to explore some new local dive spots around Madison (within 1 hour) this coming weekend (Sept 24/25).  We've been to Devil's Lake many times and want to find some other spot.  Pearl Lake is another option, but obviously more expensive ($20/person... grrrr!).  I've heard some about Rock Lake and after reading some of the posts in this forum section, it looks interesting.  Can someone tell me:

1)  Any idea on current vis?  Is it dependent on any weeds/algae blooms at this lake?
2)  What are good sites to make an entry into the lake?  It looks as if there is a public access point on the north, and a boat launch on the east.  We will be limited to shore diving.

Any info would be terrific!  Or, if there are other recommendations for other cool dive spots, please share.  Thanks.
