Some very ingenious, or very bored, divers in Belgium have just opened the world's deepest swimming pool for freedivers and scuba divers.

Here's a shot of the deep well that goes to 35 meters- 115'!

Jon
They also put in shallower sections and some underwater "caves" for divers to practice their penetration skills in.

Here's a better shot of the different ledges they have built in for training.

One last shot of the shop as you walk in.

Too bad the guys in Chicago don't have something of this scale planned for the kind of money they're talking about.

Jon,

I know the guy who's behind this project. IO actually took my CMAS * and ** from him. He's been working on it for the last 10 years and I am glad to see it's finally open. I actually set him up with some WKPP footage to play on the videowall he had in mind for the lobby.

David
I little tough to play UW Hockey in but that pool rocks!

Oh man would this be sweet!! That would be such a fun place to play around in. I'd be there every day during the winter Smile
Where in Begium is this located? I periodically get to this part of the world.

Doug

I'm not sure what part of the country it's in, but here's the website:

I know that somewhere in Texas there's an old missile silo that is now open for diving. Max depth is 130' and the water is a constant 60 degrees. Tanya Streeter, multi-world record holding freediving goddess, is planning on teaching some freediving courses there this year.

I know of some old silos in the Waukesha area, anyone interested? Wink

It's in a suburb of Brussels.
