We've been rejecting a lot of new accounts lately that are spammers. We screen every new account before approving them manually as best we can. In the past week we've been getting close to 100 new ones a day and 99% of them are spam that get rejected. I seriously wonder how many approved accounts are spam that just haven't posted. Once they do post spam we delete them and ban them.

Well, that makes sense. Thanks for screening all that crap.

We get lots of spam accounts but fortunately very very few of them slip through. I sympathize with the really big commercial forum operators. They are fighting a very difficult battle. I plan to move the forum to a new software platform soon that will incorporate much better anti-spam measures.
We get about a handful of new accounts each week. There are lots of lurkers (guests) on the forum as well. We get hundreds of thousands of unique visitors each year to wiscuba!
