Does anyone, or place, you know rent essential gear for under H20 photography? It appears the cash layout is astronomical! It would be great to have a chance to do this, down the road, without having to commit serious cash up front.

What are your ambitions? How do you plan to use it? What kind of water conditions, lighting, and subjects? While it's easy to spend $5-10k putting together a rig (housed dSLR with wide-angle lens, dome port, and external strobes), it's also easy to put together a setup for under $500-1000 that still has the ability to take good photos.

Well it would not be renting, but I have a Sea Life Reefmaster 6mp with the wide angle lens for around 550.00. I have not yet purchased the strobe for it but I have been quoted 300.00 to 400.00. It takes desent photos in the green water that we have around here. I have some posted on this site as well as flickr.
